Bless You O’ Students of God’s Word,                          May 13, 2012

As your Pastor I am constantly thinking about you. The Apostle Paul gave instructions to his apprentice Timothy on how to conduct himself as a Pastor. “If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained” (1Timothy 4:6). As your Pastor I want you to grow in every single thing that God has for you. Just like a gardener who wants to see his garden grow and prosper and bring forth a good harvest, I likewise want to see you grow in grace and truth and knowledge. This just doesn’t happen over-night nor all at once. It takes both time and study. Again the scriptures give us the correct instructions:“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”(2 Timothy 2:15). Now, yes, Paul was speaking to Timothy who was a Preacher-in-training. Paul was giving good advice to Timothy. Nevertheless, these instructions are good for all...not just those called into ministry. God wants every one of His children to be students of His Word, the Bible. Growing in grace and truth requires a certain amount of Bible Study. This is one reason why we are having the type of service on Wednesday evenings that we have. Right now we’re halfway through the Book of James. After we finish it we are going to study the Six Doctrines of Christ. These are listed in Hebrews chapter six, verses one and two. They are: (1) Repentance from dead works; (2) Faith toward God; (3) The doctrine of baptisms; (4) Laying on of hands, (5) Resurrection of the dead, and (6) Eternal judgment. I just imagine that many of you could not have recited these six foundational doctrines of Christ. I started this teaching and turned it over to a very capable and wonderful teacher, Brother Ricky Crews. He’s doing a very good job. (I pinch-hit for him when he’s absent.) Soon we will add a class about Deliverance Ministry. I’ll be teaching that class. We may open that class up to the public. We’ll see. That type of teaching is very deep and there is a lot to learn.                                                                                                                           We are looking at all aspects of our Church. Praying and seeking God for guidance and directions. We are an End-time Church. I’m completely convinced that Jesus will come in my lifetime. I believe we are the Terminal Generation. We are part of the last Church on Earth. Shouldn’t we “Be about our Father’s business”? Jesus said these words when He was only twelve years old. Here we are nearly two thousand years later. And I’m convinced that the anti-christ is alive and waiting to step forward at the right time. If ever there was a time for Christians to “be about our Heavenly Father’s business” it should be right now. A soldier cannot be effective in battle if he doesn’t know how to wage warfare against the enemy. The enemy will run over the untrained soldier like being hit by a Mack truck. God doesn’t want that to happen. That’s why He put it in the End-Time Warfare and Battle Instruction Manual (the Bible) for us to wage warfare against our enemy and successfully defeat the enemy on every turn. Do you really know how to wage spiritual warfare? It’s one thing to “know” about the Weapons of Your Warfare as listed in Ephesians 6:10-18 and know how to use them effectively against your enemy Satan. That’s why we are having the kind of classes that we are. I plead with you to show up on Wednesday evenings at 6:45 pm. You may think “I’m too young”, or “I’m too old”, or “I’m not a preacher”. These are excuses! Come, learn, get taught and trained. Remember, Jesus says He has already won the war. He wants us to go “mop up”. He wants us to “set the captives free”. This is very important for you. Come out this Wednesday night and be blessed. God bless you. We love you. I love you. Pastor Lyle, Sister Jean, and your BJWC Church Leadership
